With a relay control device (1) according to an embodiment, a regenerative current from a relay coil (5b) which is disposed in a relay (5) flows through a coil energy absorption circuit (7), which is connected to the low side of the relay coil (5b), toward the ground. A current detection resistor (Rsens), which is a shunt resistor, is connected further toward the ground side of the coil energy absorption circuit (7) than a coil surge absorption resistor (Rsup), and the potential (Vsens) of the current detection resistor (Rsens) is compared to a reference potential (Vref), with a current detection circuit (13). Furthermore, on the basis of the result of the comparison with the current detection circuit (13), an off-duty period of the PWM control is terminated before the current (Icoil) which flows through the relay coil (5b) becomes less than or equal to a minimum drive current (Iset). |
