In one aspect there is provided a sensor, comprising: a folded substrate mounted around an edge of a display substrate of a touchscreen device and having a plurality of drive plates and a plurality of pickup plates that are located on opposite sides of the folded substrate so as to cross over one another; and a drive and receiver integrated circuit carried on a portion of the folded substrate and configured to: activate the drive plates, and receive signals on the pickup plates.
