<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pointer type display unit which allows a design display part to be efficiently illuminated and unintentional illumination of a region having no design display part to be reduced. <P>SOLUTION: A light guide dial 10 includes a dial hole part 111 for insertion of a pointer spindle 41 of a pointer 30. Light is introduced from an inner wall light entrance part 111a of the dial hole part 111, so that a design display part 122a lights up. A circuit board 60 mounted with a light source 50 is disposed on the rear side of the light guide dial 10. A middle case 70 to reflect the light from the light source 50 is disposed between the light guide dial 10 and the circuit board 60. A light guide body 20 having an approximately annular shape to cover approximately the whole circumference of the pointer spindle 41 includes a dial direction light emitting part 24 which emits light from the light source 50 toward the direction of the light guide dial 10.
