<p>Strengthening an adhesive joint between a covering 1 for a building component 2. The covering means may be a brick slip, brick tile, thin brick, brick veneer or brick cladding and the building component may be a metal lintel. The strengthening may comprise recesses, dimples, studs, ridges, grooves, dovetail projections or channels 4 on the brick slip which permit adhesive to travel or expand into in order to enhance adhesive attachment. Alternatively, a metal grid or mesh 34 is used. The strengthening may be a physical key in the brick slip for the adhesive to act on. The grid or mesh may be mechanically couplable to the lintel for example, it may be welded or screwed. The lintel may also have keying to further improve adhesion which may comprise perforations, roughening or interfering with the integrity of the surface.</p> |
