The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for providing a message service. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the method for providing a message service comprises the steps of: receiving a request for canceling a message transmitted to at least one reception terminal from a transmission terminal; determining whether it is possible to cancel a transmitted message for each of the at least one reception terminal; and transmitting a command signal to cancel a transmitted message to a reception terminal which can cancel a transmitted message among the at least one reception terminal, wherein the at least one reception terminal can include multiple terminals linked by an identical user account.
