The sensor and/or the actuator (1) has a communication unit (3) for wireless communication of data, where the sensor and/or the actuator is designed for storage of different data profiles. A subset of the data is defined by the data profiles. A desired data profile is selected such that the data of a selected subset is transmitted inside a network by communication unit during operation. A detection unit (8) detects a state change of the sensor and/or the actuator. The state change is provided as data inside one of the data profiles for wireless communication.
