In the present invention, it is revealed that hexanedioic acid has an antibacterial activity or an antibacterial effect against Shigella by inhibiting growth and proliferation of the Shigella and inducing growth inhibition, and can be used as a composition for treating, alleviating, or preventing shigellosis caused by infection with the Shilgella utilizing the same. The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for treating or preventing shigellosis, a health food composition for preventing or alleviating shigellosis, and a feed composition for preventing or alleviating shigellosis, containing hexanedioic acid as an active ingredient. The pharmaceutical composition, the health food composition, and the feed composition in accordance with the present invention suppress growth and proliferation of the Shigella and inhibit survival of the same, thereby being useful as a bactericide for treating, alleviating, or preventing shigellosis. |
