Disclosed herein are novel antioxidant inflammation modulators, including those of the formula:;
wherein the variables are defined herein. Also provided are pharmaceutical compositions, kits and articles of manufacture comprising such compounds. Methods and intermediates useful for making the compounds, and methods of using the compounds and compositions thereof are also provided.

R1 and R2 are each methyl;R3 is hydrogen; andR4 is:
hydrogen; oralkyl(C≦12), alkenyl(C≦12), alkynyl(C≦12), aryl(C≦12), aralkyl(C≦12), hetero-aryl(C≦12), acyl(C≦12) or a substituted version of any of these groups, wherein one or more hydrogen atom has been independently replaced by —OH, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, —NH2, —NO2, —CO2H, —CO2CH3, —CN, —SH, —OCH3, —OCH2CH3, —C(O)CH3, —N(CH3)2, —C(O)NH2, —OC(O)CH3, or —S(O)2NH2; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or tautomer thereof.
