According to an embodiment of the present invention, a direct injection diesel engine comprises: a piston received in a cylinder to be slid, having a combustion chamber; a cylinder head which covers the cylinder, and has a bottom surface touching a combustion chamber; and an injector installed to penetrate the cylinder head, injecting fuel into the combustion chamber. An injector groove is formed on the bottom surface of the cylinder head to allow a part of the injector to protrude from the bottom surface of the injector groove. A space where injected fuel is to be atomized is provided in the injector groove to allow compression and ignition before the fuel touches an inner surface of the combustion chamber; thus reducing a phenomena of wall wetting generated when the fuel touches the inner surface of the combustion chamber. |
