A method for treating obesity or for reducing body weight in a human patient in need thereof, comprising subcutaneously administering to the patient, once or twice weekly, a dose of a formulation comprising about 0.5 mg/m2 to about 1.5 mg/m2, based on the patient's actual or calculated surface area, of the free base of 6-O-(4-dimethylaminoethoxy)cinnamoyl fumagillol.
