A stereoscopic image restoring method comprising: parsing a received data stream into image data of a stereoscopic image and information regarding the stereoscopic image; extracting, based on the parsed information, a camera parameter representing individual characteristics of each of two or more cameras which have captured the stereoscopic image; and decoding and restoring, based on the extracted camera parameter, the image data of the stereoscopic image, wherein the extracting the camera parameter comprises: extracting a principal point information setting parameter indicating whether information regarding each of principal points of a primary view image and a secondary view image of the stereoscopic image is set; and if the principal point information setting parameter indicates that the information regarding the principal points is set, extracting a primary principal point parameter representing the principal point of the primary view image of the stereoscopic image and a secondary principal point parameter representing the principal point of the secondary view image of the stereoscopic image, wherein the principal point of the primary view image is a crossing point of the primary view image and an optical axis, and if the principal point information setting parameter indicates that the information regarding the principal point is not set, the extracting the camera parameter further comprises determining that a center point of the stereoscopic image is different from a center point of an area photographed by one of the two or more cameras.
