PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily determine that a disconnection has been arising in a power source +line connecting a DC power source and a power conversion system, immediately after the occurrence of it, in a malfunction detecting device and a malfunction detecting method for a power conversion system.SOLUTION: A malfunction detecting device for a power conversion system comprises: a capacitor, both ends of which are connected to a power source +line and a power source -line, both of which are connected to both ends of a DC power source; and an upper arm element and a lower arm element connected in series between the power +line and power -line. The malfunction detecting device converts power between the DC power source and a motor by switching between the upper arm element and lower arm element. The malfunction detecting device comprises: voltage detecting means for detecting a voltage produced between both the ends of the capacitor; and disconnection determining means for determining that, if the rate of increase in the voltage detected by the voltage detecting means is equal to or higher than a predetermined threshold value, a disconnection has been arising in the power source +line. |
