PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an eddy current type speed reduction device capable of suppressing temperature rise of a permanent magnet.SOLUTION: The speed reduction device includes: a magnet holding disk 4 which holds a plurality of permanent magnets 5 and is fixed to a rotary shaft 11; a pair of brake disks 1a and 1b which are disposed while opposing both surfaces of the magnet holding disk 4, respectively, and supported to be axially rotatable with respect to the rotary shaft 11 and axially movable; a brake caliper 7 including a pair of brake pads 8a and 8b holding the pair of brake disks 1a and 1b therebetween; and an actuator 9 which drives the caliper 7 during braking to stop the brake disks 1a and 1b. The brake disks 1a and 1b are coupled via a compression coil spring 21. The brake disks 1a and 1b approach each other against an elastic force of a spring 21 by loading a pressing force with movement of the pads 8a and 8b during braking and are separated from each other by the elastic force of the spring 21 by unloading the pressure during non-braking.
