PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continuously drive a load under proper control corresponding to a mode of a failure in the case where a switching element of an inverter circuit is broken.SOLUTION: A motor drive device 100 includes a failure detection section 33 for detecting failures in switching elements Q1-Q6 and diodes D1-D6 of an inverter circuit 1. In the case where the failure detection section 33 detects a failure that the switching element Q5 on an upper stage of a C phase is not conducted and does not detect a failure that the diode D5 is not conducted, a motor M is driven by using the switching element Q6 that is coupled with the broken switching element Q5, and the switching elements Q1-Q4 of other phases. In the case where the failure detection section 33 detects both the failures that the switching element Q5 on the upper stage of the C phase is not conducted and the diode D5 is not conducted, the motor M is driven by using the switching elements Q1-Q4 of the other phases while maintaining an OFF state of the switching element Q6 that is coupled with the broken switching element Q5. |
