PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resistor manufacturing method capable of facilitating handling in a resistor which uses a metal foil as a resistive element.SOLUTION: A resistor manufacturing method comprises the steps of: obtaining a framed metal foil 12 including a frame part 12B located in a peripheral part and a foil part 12A thinner than the frame part 12B; applying an electrode material to the framed metal foil 12; obtaining a sheet-like metal foil 13 by separating the frame part 12B from the framed metal foil 12; applying an adhesive material to a sheet-like insulating substrate 31; sticking the sheet-like metal foil 13 to the sheet-like insulating substrate 31; obtaining a plurality of metal foil resistive elements 14 by cutting the sheet-like metal foil 13; burning the sheet-like insulating substrate 31; trimming the metal foil resistive element 14; forming a protection film 43; dividing the sheet-like insulating substrate 31; obtaining an end face electrode 44 on an end face of a strip-like insulating substrate 32; dividing the strip-like insulating substrate 32; and forming a plating layer on a surface of the end face electrode 44.
