PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve both printing quality maintenance after resumption of printing and excessive discharge suppression of recording liquid in a printer configured to discharge the recording liquid before resumption of printing when a jam occurs.SOLUTION: A printer 100 comprises an absorption detector 73 for detecting absorption of recording liquid from a liquid discharge head 2 to a recording medium 9 in which a jam occurs. A control unit 8 executes absorption determination S41 of determining whether or not the recording liquid is absorbed in the recording medium 9 on the basis of an absorption detection signal SA from the absorption detector 73 when it is determined that the jam of the recording medium 9 occurs on a conveyance path 10 during printing. When it is determined that the recording liquid is absorbed in the recording medium 9, at the time of discharging the recording liquid before resumption of printing, a discharge amount Q of the recording liquid becomes larger than the discharge amount of the recording liquid in a case where it is determined that the recording liquid is not absorbed. |
