PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide water soluble metal processing oil excellent in lubricity and wear resistance even under severe processing conditions, and a coolant for metal processing obtained by diluting the same with water.SOLUTION: Provided is water soluble metal processing oil obtained by blending (A) dicarboxylic acid with a sulfide structure and (B) monocarboxylic acid, and including no polyalkylene glycol. Also provided is a coolant for metal processing obtained by diluting the water soluble metal processing oil with water.
