PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of shortening the time from supply of a voltage to a member outputting a bias voltage and detection of an interval of light beams until the start of an image formation.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: deflection means of deflecting a plurality of light beams so that an electrostatically charged photoreceptor is scanned with the plurality of light beams; light reception means of receiving the plurality of deflected light beams; and control means of executing a voltage supply process of applying an electrostatic charging bias to the photoreceptor and an interval detection process of detecting intervals of the plurality of light beams that the light reception means receives so as to detect intervals of exposure positions of the plurality of light beams on the photoreceptor, and controlling relative emission timing of the plurality of light beams on the basis of a result of the interval detection process, and sets relative start timing of the voltage supply process and interval detection process on the basis of the time from the start of electrostatic charging of the photoreceptor until when the photoreceptor reaches a target electrostatic charging state and the time when the interval detection process is completed. |
