PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compression device and a method for controlling the compression device capable of restarting a compressor at suitable timing.SOLUTION: A compression device includes: a plurality of compressors 10A-10C for compressing and delivering gas, a tank 14 for storing the compression gas delivered and collected from the compressors 10A-10C; pressure detecting means 16 for detecting pressure in the tank 14; timing means 21 for counting time after stopping when the compressors 10A-10C are stopped; and control means 20 for calculating restarting interval time for restarting the stopped compressors 10A-10C desired in accordance with variation in the pressure detected by the pressure detecting means 16 when at least one of the compressors 10A-10C is stopped and the pressure in the tank 14 is lower than a lower limit pressure, and restarting the compressors 10A-10C when the time counted by the timing means 21 exceeds the calculated restarting interval time. |
