PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal wire that is made of iridium or an iridium alloy and has excellent oxidative consumption resistance and mechanical properties in a high-temperature atmosphere.SOLUTION: The present invention is a metal wire made of iridium or an iridium-containing alloy. In the metal wire, the number of crystal grains in an arbitrary longitudinal cross section is 2-20 per 0.25 mm, and the Vickers hardness of any given portion is 200 Hv or more and less than 400 Hv. This iridium wire is a material that is produced by the μ-PD method, is in a state where residual stress is small, and has a small change in the number of crystal grains and hardness even when heated to the recrystallization temperature (1,200-1,500°C) or higher. |
