PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flow path member which allows negative pressure to be easily and effectively released by reducing volume of a flow path to be cancelled while releasing the negative pressure.SOLUTION: A flow path member 5, which is used for a liquid discharge head 3, comprises: means 161 for adjusting pressure in flow paths provided at middles of flow paths between self-sealing units 4 as negative pressure generating means and a discharge part; and flow-path opening/closing means 165 provided at middles between the self-sealing units and the means for adjusting pressure in flow paths. The means for adjusting pressure in flow paths comprise: first recessed parts 158 that are communicated with the flow-path opening/closing means and the discharge part and store ink; second recessed parts 159 that are communicated with first fluid supply sources, store ink, and oppose to the first recessed parts; and first flexible members 160 that seal the first recessed parts and the second recessed parts between the first recessed parts and the second recessed parts. Fluid supplied from the first fluid supply sources deforms the first flexible members and changes the volume of parts partitioned by the first recessed parts and the first flexible members so as to adjust pressure in the flow paths in a state where the flow paths are closed by the flow path opening/closing means. |
