PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid consumption device capable of improving accuracy of residual amount reduction detection and residual state determination of liquid.SOLUTION: A printer 10 comprises: detection sections 90 having light emission sections 92 and light reception sections 94; holders 20 detachably holding ink cartridges IC disposed with prisms 170; a carriage motor 33 relatively moving the holders 20 and the detection sections 90; a control section 40; and a storage section 50. The control section 40 is configured so as to able to execute: ink near-end determination determining a residual state of ink IK on the basis of detection voltage characteristics SEP output from the light reception sections 94 in response to received light amounts of reflected light Lr1 and Lr2 in a detection range DPR having a positional relation among the detection sections 90 and the prisms 170 facing one another; and position correction processing adjusting the detection range DPR by an adjustment value determined on the basis of detection voltage characteristics SIK. The control section 40 writes the adjustment value determined in a predetermined region of the storage section 50. |
