PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress deterioration of a sulfonated pyrene compound under a sunlight irradiation environment, in a water treatment agent containing a water-soluble polymer having carboxylic acid or a carboxylate as a monomer unit, and the sulfonated pyrene compound as a tracer material.SOLUTION: A water treatment agent contains a water-soluble polymer such as polymaleic acid having at least one monomer unit selected from a group comprising carboxylic acid and carboxylates, and a sulfonated pyrene compound such as 1,3,6,8-pyrene tetrasulfonic acid tetrasodium salt, and pH is adjusted at 12 or higher. |
