PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water pump capable of preventing foreign matters from entering a mechanical seal.SOLUTION: A water pump 9 comprises: a pump housing 20; a cover housing 22; and a rotary shaft 25, and an impeller 26 is fixed to one end of the rotary shaft 25. The rotary shaft 25 is pivotally supported by a bearing 24 and water-sealed by a mechanical seal 27. A cylindrical partition part 31 facing the mechanical seal 27 is formed on a back surface of the impeller 26, and the partition part 31 prevents foreign matters from being attracted toward the mechanical seal 27. If a fin 32 or a spiral stripe 33 is provided on the partition part 31 to provide a vane structure (pump structure), a function to eliminate foreign matters further improves. |
