<p>A composite armor plate (10) with a layer of pellets (18) in a binder matrix (26), the pellets (18) having domed front (22) and planar back (24) end and a reduced weight. A method of producing the plate (10) comprises providing front and back layers, applying binder material to the pellets and the layers (14,16), and heating the binder material to form the matrix (26) and bind the front and back layers (14,16) thereto. Each pellet (18) may be coated with a primer adapted to facilitate the binding.</p> |
