PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a graphitization furnace capable of producing homogeneous graphite in which the damage of the furnace is extremely reduced, and a method for producing graphite.SOLUTION: Provided is a continuous vertical graphitization furnace of heating a carbon material charged from the upper part so as to be graphitized and discharging the obtained graphite from the lower part, including: a furnace body; and a conduction heating cylinder connected to the upper edge of the furnace body. The conduction heating cylinder includes: a cylindrical member charging the carbon material from the upper part and filling the same; and at least two electrodes installed in the inner wall of the cylindrical member so as to be confronted via the carbon material and each forming a conductive region of heating the carbon material by conduction. The furnace body includes: a heat source provided at the outer circumferential part of the furnace body and forming an external heat source region of heating the carbon material from the outside of the furnace body; a jacket for cooling provided at the outer circumferential part of the furnace body at the lower part of the external heat source region and forming a cooling region of cooling the generated graphite; and a discharge port of discharging the graphite provided at the lower part of the cooling region.
