PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device capable of suppressing condensation of mercury to an electrode.SOLUTION: A light source device includes: a discharge lamp for emitting light; a discharge lamp drive part for supplying drive power to the discharge lamp; a cooling part for cooling the discharge lamp; and a control part for controlling the cooling part. The discharge lamp drive part supplies drive power to the discharge lamp so that a first drive period PH1 in which first drive power is supplied to the discharge lamp, a second drive period PH3 in which second drive power which is smaller than the first drive power is supplied to the discharge lamp and a shift period PH2 in which the first drive period is shifted to the second drive period are provided. The control part can execute first output drive for driving the cooling part with first output proportional to the drive power, and second output drive for driving the cooling part with second output larger than the first output with respect to the drive power, and at least in one part of the first drive period and at least in one part of the second drive period, the first output drive is executed, and at east in one part of the shift period, the second output drive is executed. |
