PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a parking device that can understood in advance whether or not a motion restricting unit for restricting a motion in the first direction of a motion member and releasing restriction of the motion member for changing-over a parking lock state and a parking lock releasing state is normal while being moved in the first direction.SOLUTION: This invention comprises the steps of setting a parking lock released state, a vehicle is being stopped, an engine is being operated, a request for stopping the engine is not required, a brake-on state is kept and an accelerator-off is kept (S100 to S140); judging that a diagnosis condition is established, a magnetic lock device is kept ON (a state in which a motion of a piston rod can be restricted), operating oil in an oil chamber of a hydraulic actuator is discharged (S150, S160); and diagnosing whether or not the magnetic lock device is normal in response to whether or not a parking lock released state is held (S180 to S200). Then, after diagnosing, the operating oil is supplied to the oil chamber to move the piston rod toward the lock releasing side (S230). |
