PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vinyl benzyl ether resin providing a cured product having high level dielectric property (low dielectric constant and low dielectric loss tangent) even after severe thermal hysteresis, high glass transformation temperature and high fire resistance, good moldability, low halogen content and high thermal decomposition temperature, and a curable resin composition.SOLUTION: There is provided a vinyl benzyl ether resin obtained by reacting o-position substituted phenol aralkyl resin such as 2,6-xylenol and vinyl aromatic halomethyl compound in a presence of an alkali metal hydroxide and vinyl benzyl etherifying 60 to 100 mol% of phenolic OH group, and having a peak area derived from an aldehyde group of 10.0% or less relative to the total peak area totaling with the peak area of a vinyl group inC-NMR measurement.
