<p>The process involves transporting a bulb to a cutting unit positioned on a level of a cutting plane (3) after separation of leaves. The bulb is introduced into a vertical displacement unit (7) during a movement toward the cutting unit. Force directed downward is applied on a foot of the bulb by the displacement unit to slide the bulb to a bottom and position the foot of the bulb on a level of the cutting plane. The bulb is engaged into the cutting unit after exit of the bulb from the displacement unit to separate a root emerging from the foot of the bulb, so that the bulb is released. An independent claim is also included for a machine for trimming elongated bulbs equipped with leaves and roots.</p> |
