The present invention relates to a pretreatment part having a transfer screw and an operation method thereof, capable of preventing food wastes from being excessively put in a food waste processing device and increasing food waste processing efficiency. The pretreatment part (100) for a food waste processing device comprises: a primary inlet (110) through which food wastes are put; a loading part (130) positioned in the lower part of the primary inlet (110) to load the entered food wastes; a transfer screw (131) positioned inside the loading part (130); a secondary inlet (120) positioned in the loading part (130); and a main body (200) connected to the secondary inlet (120) to treat the food wastes. The transfer screw (131) rotates at a predetermined rotation speed and the secondary inlet (120) is opened only for predetermined hours when the transfer screw (131) rotates. The present invention allows users to put a large amount of the food wastes in the pretreatment part of the food waste processing device and ordinarily treats a constant amount of the food wastes, thereby being convenient and efficient.
