<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately treat unburned fuel components left in the combustion chamber of a cylinder when a combustion failure in an air-fuel mixture occurs.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine that can implement active ignition for generating plasmas in a combustion chamber by the interaction between spark discharge generated between a center electrode and a ground electrode of an ignition plug 12 and an electric field emitted into the combustion chamber via an antenna facing the interior of the combustion chamber and thereby igniting a fuel, re-implements the active ignition upon lowering a voltage for the spark discharge to be applied to the electrodes of the ignition plug 12 from the last applied voltage, weakening an electric field to be emitted into the combustion chamber from the last emitted electric field, or shortening time for emitting the electric field into the combustion chamber from the time for emitting the last emitted electric field.</p> |
