PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for directly carrying out arylation, especially α-arylation, of a carbonyl compound or a thiocarbonyl compound by using a more inexpensive phenol derivative and a nickel catalyst, and to provide a novel nickel catalyst which can be used therefor and a novel ligand possessed by the nickel catalyst.SOLUTION: The novel compound of the present invention is a compound having a diphosphine skeleton or a salt thereof, having a five-membered or six-membered heterocycle substituted with two dialkylphosphines and/or dicycloalkylphosphines, and a compound having the diphosphine skeleton bound to a nickel atom. Furthermore, a coupling reaction of a carbonyl compound and a phenol derivative can be progressed in the presence of a nickel compound having a monodentate or bidentate dialkylphosphine and/or dicycloalkylphosphine skeleton. |
