1. A method for sensing the binding of an analyte to a surface, comprising:
(a) contacting an analyte with a surface, wherein the analyte is a second binding partner of a binding pair, wherein the surface comprises a first binding partner of the binding pair having a binding affinity toward the second binding partner, and wherein the surface further comprises a pH-sensitive fluorescent agent having a first fluorescence emission intensity at a first pH and a second fluorescence emission intensity at a second pH; and (b) measuring the fluorescence emission intensity of the pH-sensitive fluorescent agent after contacting the surface with the analyte, wherein a change in the fluorescent emission intensity after contacting the surface with the analyte indicates binding of the analyte to the surface. |
