A tap tool assembly includes a tap, a retaining member and a sleeve. The tap has a thread cutting section and a shaft section. A surface of the sleeve defines the central bore and has a shoulder. The sleeve is coupled to the shaft section of the tap for movement between a first position completely covering the thread cutting section and a second position exposing at least a portion of the thread cutting section, with the sleeve being biased to move toward the first position. |
