The present invention relates to a component feeder and an image processing device for the same. The present invention easily and precisely installs an image device of a camera in an appropriate location, and increases a transmission speed of an image data obtained by the camera; thereby enabling high-speed conveyance of a workpiece. According to the present invention, the image processing device (8) is applied to a component feeder (100) having a camera capturing the workpiece (W) conveyed along a conveyor (10). The image processing device (8) employs an area camera (2) which is a camera having a plurality of imaging devices arranged in the conveyance direction of the workpiece (W), and a direction perpendicular thereto using the imaging devices to obtain image data. The image processing device (8) comprises: a setting means (30) which sets only a part of the imaging devices forming a column perpendicular to the conveyance direction the area camera (2) has to be used for imaging; an image introduction means (31) which directly introduces the obtained image data to the area camera (2) when the part of the imaging devices are used for imaging; and a posture identifying means (33) used to determine the acceptability of the workpiece (W) and process the determination in regards to the acceptability of the workpiece (W) based on the introduced image data.
