The present invention relates to a gas fuel supply device for an engine and an operating method thereof. The operating method of a gas fuel supply device for an engine according to the present invention comprises: a step of measuring a pressure and a temperature of a gas supply pipe and a pressure of an intake port to acquire flow rate information of gas supplied to a combustion room to combust fuel; a step of determining whether the flow rate information is lower than or equal to a prescribed reference flow rate; and a step of changing a period of time for which a gas supply valve for supplying the gas to the combustion room remains open to change the flow rate of the gas supplied to the combustion room according to the acquired flow rate information. According to the present invention, the period of time during which the gas supply valve stays open is changed according to the flow rate information of the gas supplied to the combustion room or pressure information of the combustion room to consistently supply an adequate amount of the gas fuel to a cylinder unit, thereby improving engine performance.
