Spatio-Temporal Key Performance Indicators

An approach is provided for providing spatio-temporal key performance indicators (ST-KPIs). The approach tracks metrics, such as crowd density, pertaining to a number of locations. The tracking is performed over time to develop a history of past values that correspond to the metrics. The history is used to predict a trend of future metrics at the locations with the trend resulting in predicted future values that correspond to the metrics at the locations. In this manner, the ST-KPIs reflect the predicted future values at the various locations that are being monitored. A city view is displayed to a user showing the current and predicted values at defined ST-KPI locations throughout the city.

1. A method, in an information handling system comprising a processor and a memory, to provide spatio-temporal key performance indicators (ST-KPIs), the method comprising:
tracking one or more metrics pertaining to a plurality of locations, wherein the tracking is performed at a plurality of times, and wherein the metrics are obtained from one or more sensors that perform the tracking in near-real-time, the tracking resulting in one or more current values; developing a history of a plurality of past values that correspond to the metrics, wherein the history is developed over a period of time; predicting, based on the history the plurality of past values, a trend of future metrics at the plurality of locations, wherein the trend results in a plurality of predicted future values that correspond to the metrics; and displaying a city view of a plurality of ST-KPIs, wherein the displayed ST-KPIs indicate the current value pertaining to a current set of the metrics at each of the plurality of locations within a city and the predicted future values at one or more of the plurality of locations in the city.
