PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition and method for treatment of an eye disorder.SOLUTION: The present invention provides a compound and method for the treatment of an LFA-1 mediated disease. Specifically, an LFA-1 antagonist is described herein and the antagonist is used in the treatment of LFA-1 mediated disease. One aspect of the invention provides for diagnosis of an LFA-1 mediated disease and administration of an LFA-1 antagonist after a patient is diagnosed with a LFA-1 mediated disease. In some embodiments, the LFA-1 mediated disease treated is a dry eye disorder. Also provided herein is a method for identifying a compound which is an LFA-1 antagonist.
