PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power unit capable of improving the degree of freedom of structures and arrangements of a crankcase and peripherals in a case of arranging the drive source of a transmission to be biased below the crankcase.SOLUTION: A power unit 10 comprises: an engine 13; a gear transmission mechanism 45 including a plurality of pairs of gears for shifting a turning force of a crankshaft 21; a transmission 24 including at least a plate shift arm 24m swinging about a shift spindle 24c for operating the gear transmission mechanism 45 for switching over the gear pairs; a crankcase 14 accommodating therein the gear transmission mechanism 45 and the transmission 24; and an oil pan 50 attached to a lower portion of the crankcase 14, a communication hole 14h communicating with the oil pan 50 being formed in a bottom 14b of the crankcase 14 and a swinging range of the shift arm 24m overlapping the communication hole 14h. |
