The invention relates to office equipment and can be used in manufacturing devices for producing three-dimensional models by the consecutive application of layers of hardening materials, and is intended for design simplification and for providing the possibility of producing models having larger dimensions. A printer for creating a three-dimensional model by the consecutive application of layers of a hardening material includes a plate for the model to be produced, and a thermal printing head. The housing of the head is connected to a stationary base by means of a mechanism for moving said head relative to the plate for the model to be produced, and is in the form of guide rods connected in a parallelogram using ball joints with the housing of the head and using sliders with pneumatic bearings or sliding bearings or roller bearings. According to a first variant of the printer invention, the mechanism for moving the thermal printing head is installed on a stationary base in the form of a closed frame or flat platform, located near the plate for the model to be prepared. The sliders of the mechanism for moving the head are positioned in guides on opposing sides of the frame or on the lateral sides of the flat platform. According to a second variant of the invention, the stationary base for the mechanism for moving the thermal printing head is in the form of a flat support platform for a model to be prepared, and the slider guides are formed integrally with the lateral sides of the support platform.
