An organic electroluminescent element (1) which includes an anode (10) and a cathode (20) that face each other, a luminescent layer (30) disposed between the anode and the cathode, and a hole transport zone (40) formed between the anode (10) and the luminescent layer (30), wherein the hole transport zone (40) consists only of one hole transport layer (43) in contact with the luminescent layer (30) and one hole injection layer (41) in contact with the anode (10), the hole transport layer (43) comprising a compound represented by the following formula (1) and the hole injection layer (41) comprising a compound including two to six aromatic 6-membered rings and a linking moiety which comprises a structure represented by the following formula (2a) or (2b) and by which the aromatic 6-membered rings are linked. |
