PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector that can project videos to be watched brightly while suppressing wear of electrodes of a discharge lamp.SOLUTION: In a projector 500 outputting a first video and a second video by alternately switching the videos, a control unit performs first control and second control, controls a discharge lamp driving unit, in the first control and second control, so that an absolute value of driving current I becomes relatively small during a first period and relatively large during a second period, controls the discharge lamp driving unit, in the first control, so as to supply, to a discharge lamp 90, the driving current I in which energy provided to a first electrode during the second period becomes larger than energy provided to a second electrode during the second period, and controls the discharge lamp driving unit, in the second control, so as to supply, to the discharge lamp 90, the driving current I in which energy provided to the second electrode during the second period becomes larger than energy provided to the first electrode during the second period. |
