In this inflator, a rupture disc closes the gap between an ignition means chamber having a gas exhaust port and a pressurized gas chamber filled with pressurized gas. The ignition means housing unit forming the ignition means chamber is internally divided in the axial direction into two chambers by means of a separating wall provided with a rod: to a first end of the ignition means housing is a combustion chamber in which an igniter is arranged, and to the second, opposite end is a diffuser chamber in which the gas exhaust port is formed. The round rupture disc has a peripheral fixed portion and, therewithin, a round non-fixed portion, and has a weak portion disposed on a first surface facing a bottle and comprising three or more grooves which extend towards the center, the start points of the grooves being at positions at or near the edge of the circular non-fixed portion, and the end points thereof not reaching all the way to the center. The rod is fixed to the separating wall and extends towards the rupture disc. Operation of the igniter generates gas pressure which causes the rod to impact the rupture disc, striking all end points of the weak portion and cleaving open the rupture disc. |
