A method of inserting a femoral prosthesis includes coupling an insertion/extraction instrument with an insertion/extraction cavity of a femoral component using a threaded member, the insertion/extraction cavity defining a cavity axis which is not parallel with a longitudinal axis defined by a proximal stem portion of the femoral prosthesis, inserting a distal end portion of the femoral prosthesis into a femur, impacting a proximal end portion of the insertion/extraction instrument, and transferring an impact force from the proximal end portion to the femoral prosthesis through the threaded member. |
