DRILL SHIP FOR POLAR REGION

Disclosed is a drillship for a polar region, which has a weather tight structure to minimize an effect of an external environment on drilling operation in a polar region. The drillship for a polar region, which can perform drilling operation in a polar region, comprises: a derrick mounted on a hull for drilling operation; a moon pool formed to vertically penetrate a gap between a floor of the hull and an upper deck in a lower portion of the derrick; a drill floor installed in an upper portion of the moon pool to support the derrick; and a weather tight structure protecting the derrick and the drill floor from outside air. The weather tight structure comprises: a derrick protection plate surrounding the derrick; and a working area protection plate surrounding the drill floor. The derrick protection plate and the working area protection plate are connected to be displaced with respect to each other through a sliding connection unit.
