A position tracking system for tracking the position of a tag, which transmits a broadcast frame including a tag identification number through a wireless personal area network (WPAN), comprises: a transmitting and receiving unit for transmitting and receiving data to and from an external communications terminal via a wired or a wireless communications network; a data mapping unit for mapping a user identification number with a tag identification number and managing the same, and mapping a user identification number of a first user with a tag identification number of the tag and managing the same; a position determination unit for confirming the tag identification number of the tag included in a received broadcast frame when the broadcast frame of the tag and current position information of a second user communications terminal are received from the second user communications terminal via the transmitting and receiving unit, and for determining a current position of the tag by using the current position information of the second user communications terminal; a position storage unit for managing position information of the tag by storing the current position of the tag determined by the position determination unit; and a position information providing unit for confirming whether the user identification number of the first user is mapped with the tag identification number of the tag from the data mapping unit when a transmission request for the position information of the tag is received from the first user communications terminal via the transmitting and receiving unit, and for extracting the position information of the tag from the position storage unit and transmitting the same to the first user communications terminal via the transmitting and receiving unit. |
