<p>A handrail assembly comprises an elongated railing and a plurality of brackets. The railing has two lateral channels extending along its length and a central member extending between the two lateral channels. At least one of the brackets has a base and two prongs extending away from the base. Each of the prongs engages one of the lateral channels. The engagement of the railing with the brackets forms a cavity that is defined, at least in part, by the central member, the base, and the prongs.
