PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device which is high speed and safe, and can detect a leak in a recording head at a suitable timing, and a leak detection method for the recording device.SOLUTION: A recording device performs recording on a detachable recording medium by a recording head while reciprocating a carriage mounted on the recording medium, in which a leak detection is performed as follows. A voltage, which is lower than a first voltage V1 supplied via a first power line connected to a capacitor in parallel in order to perform recording by the recording head, and is generated in a second power line for supplying a second voltage V2 used for detection of a current leak from the recording head to the recording head, is monitored. When a timing of performing detection of a current leak is detected, the supply of the first voltage V1 is turned off, the second voltage V2 is turned on, and thus, detection of a current leak can be performed on the basis of the monitored voltage. |
