PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of a gallium phthalocyanine compound having improved electric characteristics such as chargeability, sensitivity, and a trail potential.SOLUTION: A production method of a chlorogallium phthalocyanine compound is provided, which includes: a first step of synthesizing a crude chlorogallium phthalocyanine compound; a second step of dry-pulverizing the chlorogallium phthalocyanine compound obtained in the first step; and a third step of cleaning the chlorogallium phthalocyanine compound obtained in the second step by use of at least one organic solvent selected from organic solvents having an amide group, a sulfoxide group or a hydroxyl group. A strong diffraction peak in a power X-ray diffraction spectrum of the chlorogallium phthalocyanine compound with CuKαcharacteristic X-rays is identical in the spectrum prior to the second step and in the spectrum after the third step.
